English Test Coach

For IELTS Writing candidates: Task 1 and Task 2

English Test Coach Check your IELTS essay.

Not sure what band your writing would get, or what to fix first? Get an estimated band score across all four criteria and know exactly what to revise next. Corrections point to the exact sentences in your essay.

Most estimates landed within one band of the examiner's score. We tested the checker on 27 published Task 1 and Task 2 responses with examiner bands: 24 estimates were within one band, and the average gap was 0.57 of a band. How we tested

Exam passes

Practise until test day.

Pay once for everything in Pro, for as long as you need before your test. A pass never renews and nothing more is charged. Buying another pass adds its days after the current one ends.

A pass starts straight away, so the usual 14-day cancellation right does not apply. It never renews.

7-day refund on your first purchase if you haven't used it. How it works

3-month pass

Best for a test in about 3 months

£24 one-off

For a test in 2 to 4 months. £8 a month.

  • All Pro AI tools

Retaking Writing?

If Writing held your band back, practise with a pass until your retake: check every essay against the four criteria, fix one weakness at a time and see each estimate change. The bands are estimates, not official IELTS scores, and no score is guaranteed.

£12 once, for a test within a month. It never renews.

£12 a month, renewing monthly until you cancel. No VAT is added. Cancel any time; Pro stays active until the end of the paid month, with no partial refunds.

Pro payments are taken on Stripe's secure checkout page, so English Test Coach never sees your card number.

Before you begin

A few useful answers.

Is this an official IELTS score?

No. AI feedback is an estimate for practice, not an official test result or examiner assessment. English Test Coach is independent of IELTS.

How does the writing feedback work?

The report reviews your response against the four writing criteria and suggests revision priorities. AI can miss or misread things; it is not a complete grammar check. Your original writing is never changed automatically.

What IELTS writing tasks can I practise?

Academic Task 1 reports, General Training Task 1 letters, and Task 2 essays for both tests. Bring your own question or choose an original practice task.

Can I try English Test Coach for free?

Yes. The writing workspace, timer, rule-based demo, questions and sample answers are free to explore without an account. See free use and plans.

What happens to my writing — is it private?

Your editor keeps a backup on this device where browser storage is available. Account drafts and saved reports are private to your account. Read how writing is stored and processed, or see writing and account help.
